From 29 September to 14 November 2026, Fondazione Valenzi, housed within Castel Nuovo – Maschio Angioino, presents Art and Resistance in Naples: Marino Mazzacurati’s Creative Journey, an exhibition exploring the creation of the Monument to the Four Days of Naples, unveiled in Piazza della Repubblica in 1969.
Through preparatory plaster and bronze models, drawings and original studies, the exhibition traces the sculptor's creative process, from the initial concept to the completion of the monument, revealing how a historical event can be transformed into art and collective memory.
The exhibition also features drawings of horses and dancers, reflecting the artist's exploration of movement and the energy of the human body, alongside a selection of historical photographs from the Parisio-Troncone Photographic Archive documenting the Neapolitan Resistance.
An opportunity to explore the relationship between artistic creation, history and civic identity, gaining a fascinating insight into the creative process behind one of Naples' most significant monuments commemorating the city's history and spirit of resistance.
