The first exhibition in Italy dedicated to one of the great masters of American underground comics.
Born in Philadelphia in 1943, Robert Crumb revolutionized the visual culture of the 1960s counterculture, creating iconic characters such as Fritz the Cat and Mr. Natural. Through a virtuosic, ironic and often unsettling drawing style, he turned personal obsessions, social satire and his passion for roots music into a powerful visual portrait of the twentieth century.
Curated by Matteo Stefanelli, Artistic Director of COMICON, the exhibition presents over 100 works and materials, including nearly 50 original pieces: comic pages, illustrations, etchings, publications, records and archival documents.
Promoted and funded by the Comune di Napoli in collaboration with COMICON, the exhibition is a special event of COMICON OFF 2026 and is part of “Napoli contemporanea”, the contemporary art programme curated by Vincenzo Trione.
